Ravindra Jadeja has no doubt been one of the key players for India for several years now. The all-rounder has been of great use to the team with his batting, bowling and amazing efforts on the field. He has got his side out of a whole on a number of occasions so far in his career. The player had at one stage of his career almost cemented his place in the Indian team. His all-round performance was at its imperious best as he always managed to steer his side to victories. However, the story has been taking a sour turn in the recent past as Ravindra Jadeja has undergone a major dip in form.&nbsp;



With the World T20 coming up in another few months the biggest challenge for India will be to build a strong playing XI which displays the cricket of the highest quality on the pitch. The first question that will be coming to the mind of every member of the selection committee's mind will be who will fill up the spot of the all-rounder in the team. Jadeja as always will be a topic of discussion in this regard. The recent poor show in the past few games from the left-hander will be a big source of concern for every Indian fan including the management. Let's take a deep dive into his numbers and find out where things have gone wrong for India's star all-rounder in the recent past.&nbsp;



Ravindra Jadeja always was seen as someone who could accelerate the run rate at will and could play big scoring shots towards the later half of the innings. His bowling abilities were never under question as the spinner would always be able to execute his plans properly on big occasions. He seemed to be a perfect option to bat at no.6 for India and also bowl 4 entire overs thereby choking the opposition's run rate.&nbsp;



It was for the first time in the 2021 T20 world cup in UAE when Jadeja's performances seemed to undergo a major decline. The tournament was possibly the worst from India's point of view as the side got knocked out in the group stages itself finishing below Pakistan and New Zealand in the points table. A major reason for India's miserable show in the tournament was Ravindra Jadeja's being unable to counter the opposition either with his bat or ball. The player seemed totally ineffective against the opposition unlike a few months before when he used to be a threat to any side in the world.&nbsp;



The important games against Pakistan and New Zealand saw India totally crumble under pressure. Ravindra Jadeja failed to pick a single wicket in these two games and went for runs against everyone's expectations. The captain didn't even prefer to let him bowl the entire 4 overs of his quota in a game. Although he managed to pick 7 wickets in the three next games against mediocre sides like <a href="https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/icc-men-s-t20-world-cup-2021-22-1267897/india-vs-namibia-42nd-match-group-2-1273753/full-scorecard">Namibia</a>, Scotland and Afghanistan, it seemed to be a little too late as India was already on the brink of getting knocked out of the tournament by then.



Thus Jadeja's being unable to continue his brilliant show of IPL 2021 into the world cup cost his side the trophy by a huge margin. India's first-choice all-rounder had let the team down in the biggest of stages.



<h2>Ravindra Jadeja's disastrous IPL 2022 Season</h2>

The next big task for Ravindra Jadeja was to help his side Chennai Super Kings successfully defend the IPL trophy which they had one handsomely in 2021. The task seemingly got even greater when Ravindra Jadeja was given the captaincy responsibilities too by the CSK management after MS Dhoni decided to step down from the same. What followed was another series of unfortunate circumstances for Ravindra Jadeja and Chennai Super Kings.&nbsp;



The team failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished at the 9th position in the points table with just 4 wins out of the 14 matches played. Ravindra Jadeja failed to deliver a single quality performance either with the bat or ball. What was most surprising is that his fielding which used to be a major factor in his game too seemed to have deteriorated as he dropped several crucial catches throughout the season. A player who was batting with a strike rate of around 200 in the later half of the innings in the previous IPL could barely bandage to send the ball out of the boundary this year.



Jadeja's failure to score big runs, and provide a proper finish had a serious impact on his side as they barely managed to pose a threat to the opposition team, unlike the previous season. His bowling standards underwent a clear decline. The sheer wicket-taking ability was missing and the opposition's run flow, therefore, wasn't slowing down at any phase of the innings. Such was the quality of his performances on the pitch that it was being assumed by the experts and also the team management that the additional responsibilities of a captain seemed to curb his individual performances.&nbsp;



It was owing to this fact that the captaincy was shifted back to MS Dhoni so as to relieve Jadeja from the burden of the same. Ravindra Jadeja's stats in IPL 2022 are as follows:-

Ravindra Jadeja though has been a massively reliable player for India for quite some time throughout his career and is clearly going through an extremely tough patch at the moment. It depends on the management now as to whom they would pick in the Playing XI that would feature in the World T20 later this year in Australia.&nbsp;



Several options in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and others are ready are available for selection. If Jadeja manages to prove his critics wrong in the few remaining T20 games that India is to play before the start of the tournament, then there's a possibility of his comeback into the team or else the 33-year-old will have to sit out for the entire tournament making way for other players with better current form and performances to play instead of him. It's just a matter of time to find out how things turn out to be for Jadeja and India hereon.

Cameron Green was lbw by Umesh (21). Mitchell Starc and Todd Murphy bowled cleanly (0). At the same time, Ashwin dismissed Alex Carey (3) in addition to Handscomb (19). After that, Nathan Lyon (5) was struck out, ending the inning with 197 runs. Australia scored 88 runs in the first inning to take the lead.

It looked like a tough wicket to bat on when England batted on it but Rohit and Jaiswal made it doubtful for critics. What a cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal is! Smashing FOUR off the first ball, Jaiswal made his intentions clear. He took on the debutant Tom Hartley for two sixes in his first over and India crossed the 50-run mark just under 7 overs in a test match on a turning track.

Rohit and Yashasvi constructed an 80-run opening stand and Leach took the skipper's wicket. Shubman Gill then made a hold on the other end whereas Jaiswal continued his brutal assault on the English bowlers. Root then caught and bowled Jaiswal when he was at 80. 



Gill went soon for just 23 and then Rahul and Shreyas built an impressive 60-off runs partnership. Shreyas Iyer fell against leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed and Rahul stood at the other end. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 86 runs and became the first wicket of Tom Hartley. 



Bharat joined Jadeja and played an important knock of 41. Ashwin went for cheap just scoring 1 off 11 balls following an unfortunate runout. The number one all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played one of the best knocks of the match where he ended up being the third Indian batter to get out on 80s.

Jadeja and Axar weaved an excellent partnership of 78 runs which took them over 400. Joe Root took two back-to-back wickets (Jadeja and Bumrah) and pulled back some momentum. Axar Patel scored 44 runs off 100 balls and was the last wicket to fall in the Indian innings. India were all out for 436 runs in the first Innings.



Batting first, England were driving the game till Rohit Sharma called spin to the game. The spin-trio of India- Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar- uprooted England's innings. England were all out at 246 and now India lead by 190 runs.

Jaiswal moved up to the top 15, and so did Duckett, Ashwin replaced Rabada in the second spot, and many changes. India and England are engaged in a five-match test series and home side India are leading the scoreline 2-1 after three tests. India registered a record 434-run victory in the third Test in Rajkot and now the teams are heading to Ranchi for the fourth test. 



Up to seven Indian players are ranked in the top 10 in each of the three categories (batting, bowling, and all-rounder) in the most recent ICC Test player rankings. There is a single batter in the top ten, three bowlers among the top ten, and three players among the top ten all-rounders. Indian players lead both the all-rounders and bowling rankings.



Virat Kohli is the only Indian batter in the top 10 batting rankings. Due to family priorities, he is currently missing the IND vs ENG test series. He is ranked 7th with 752 ratings. New Zealand's Kane Williamson is leading the board with 893 rating points.

Joe Root is having a low test series in India. He has bowled more overs (107) than runs (77) scored in this series. He also lost his third spot following three poor matches in ICC Rankings and now ranks 5th with a 766 rating.



Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma holds the 12 spot with 731 rating points and Ben Duckett follows him. England opener Ben Duckett?s quickfire 153 in the first innings has lifted him 12 places to 13th rank in the latest Test Player Rankings.



Following his unbeaten 214 against England in the third Test of their five-match ICC Men's Test Championship series in Rajkot, India's opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is still rising in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings. The 22-year-old left-hander joined an exclusive group of seven cricketers who have scored double century in two consecutive Tests, including Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli of India.

Jaiswal made history by becoming the first batter from India to rack up 150+ scores on his first three Test tons. Previously, the first two tons were converted to 150+ by Vinod Kambli, VVS Laxman, and Cheteshwar Pujara. Before reaching 23, Jaiswal became the first batter from India to record three or more 150+ scores. He is the sixth hitter to accomplish this milestone overall.



Jaiswal is the highest run-scorer of the series till now with over 500 runs after three matches and jumped up 14 places to rank 15 with 699 rating points. 



With a score of 112 in the first innings, Ravindra Jadeja moved up to 34th place in the batting rankings, while his seven-wicket haul in the bowling rankings moved him up three spots to sixth place. Jadeja has improved his rating points from 416 to a career-high 469, solidifying his place atop the all-rounders' standings.

Ravichandran Ashwin took a wicket in each innings despite missing part of the match due to a family emergency, edging over Kagiso Rabada to lock the leading positions with Jasprit Bumrah at the helm. Top-ranked Bumrah had 876 ratings, followed by Ashwin (839 ratings) in second place.

IND vs ENG 5th Test: India are set to lock horns against England in the 5th and last Test of the England Tour Of India 2024 and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja are on the doorstep of huge milestones individually.



England are on a tour of India and they were scheduled to play five test matches. Four of the five matches have been played and as expected, India have thrived in the show. Despite losing the first test of the series, India have won the series by winning consecutive three tests.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has come up as the best batsman among all in the series. He is also the highest run scorer (655) of the series with a healthy lead to Shubman Gill who is second with 342 runs in the tournament. 



Jaiswal has played 8 Test Matches for India and in 15 innings, he has scored 971 runs. He is just 29 runs away from 1000 runs. If he adds up 29 runs in either inning of the match, he will become the second-fastest Indian player to score one thousand runs in the Test after Vinod Kambli who did the job in 14 innings.



Jaiswal has been exceptional top of the order. He has amassed three big hundreds and three excellent fifties in his very young career and surely there are many to come.

Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, has been one among the most valuable players in the squad. His all-rounder ability has proven to be the savior for the side in this series. He has played 3 matches in this series and batted on 5 innings where he collected 217 runs with an average of over 43.



More than his batting, he has been more impressive with his bowling. He has taken 17 wickets in this series in 3 matches with an average of 25. He has bowled 127 overs and shares the second spot in the wicket-takers tally with Bumrah and Ravi Ashwin.



Jadeja has taken 292 wickets in a total of 71 matches in Test format. He is just 8 wickets short of becoming the seventh Indian and the third spinner to pick up 300 wickets in Test cricket.

IND vs ENG: Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his playing XI for the first T20I against England. The match between the two teams is all set to take place on Wednesday (22nd January) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
India and England will be locking horns with each other in the five-match T20I series. Both teams have a mixed combination of seniors and youngsters in the team, and with the way they have played of late, it's fair to say that it will be an exciting series to watch. 
Coming to the first T20I, Ravichandran Ashwin backed Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma to open the innings for the team. The duo has been doing a decent job together as an opener and would be hoping to carry on the same form in the upcoming first match. 
Sanju Samson was at his exceptional best in the T20Is last year as he slammed three tons. While on the other hand, Abhishek Sharma hasn't been able to maintain consistency. Hence the series will be extremely important for him with the bat.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali talked about the delay in the squad of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the Pakistan team. He said that it might look like they are scared of announcing the team, but it seems that they don't know what to do. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner and all the teams have named their squad for the tournament except the hosts Pakistan. The Men in Green are yet to announce the team even though the deadline of 12th January has already been surpassed by a long margin. 
India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have all revealed their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This has made many speculate about why Pakistan isn't announcing their squad for the tournament, which is less than one month away. 
There have been several reports that Pakistan will be announcing their squad for the tournament soon. They are awaiting the fitness of a few players, and hence, they will soon be naming the team. Some reports also have revealed the players who will be playing, but an official announcement is yet to come.

"Pakistan kya darr gaya jo abhi tak team announce nahi ki? Nahi dara nahi hai. Samajh nahi aa rahi hai -- karein to kya karein? (Is Pakistan scared to announce their squad? No, it isn't, just unsure what to do and what not). The biggest issue is whether Saim Ayub can return fit or not. It's still not clear." 
It remains to be seen when will Pakistan announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to take place from 19th February, with the final all set to be played on 9th March.

Pakistan squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is yet to be announced {PC:X}

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the jersey controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian governing body refused to write 'Pakistan' on their kits for the tournament. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is scheduled to begin on 19th February. The preparations for the tournament are on, and the ICC and the PCB are taking every step possible to make sure that everything is right on track. 
However, a controversy recently erupted after BCCI refused to write Pakistan on their jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, every participating nation, as per the ICC policy, has to write the name of the host nation below the logo of the tournament on their jersey. 
After BCCI refused to sport it, Pakistan Cricket Board officials made a strong statement, saying that BCCI is trying to use politics in every matter. He, however, mentioned that they are hopeful that ICC will support them and India will be asked to write the name of the jersey on their kits for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following this, BCCI also reacted, and the insider from the governing body said that since they are playing in Dubai, it isn't mandatory for them to wear the 'Pakistan written jersey'. The BCCI also stressed that they didn't write Pakistan's name on the podium of the Trophy tours as well. 
Amid all this, ICC has come up with a strong response for the BCCI. An ICC official mentioned that it is the responsibility of the host nation to add the tournament logo to their jersey. He stated: 
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports, as quoted by NDTV. 
Not only this, it is learned that the ICC also warned BCCI that they would be taking strict action if they didn't wear the Pakistan-written jersey during the tournament.
