Earlier only one ball was used in ODI Cricket. But now two new balls are used, one from each end. The last time we saw a reverse swing in the white-ball game was way back in 2009. Earlier, at least in the last 10 overs on an innings, we saw this amazing skill. Shoaib Akhtar has openly criticized the fact that the ICC has killed reverse swing.?

Cricket's global governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, 24th of December announced the official schedule and fixture list of the upcoming ICC Mega-Event, the 2025 Champions Trophy. The competition, featuring the top eight One-Day International teams, will be played between 19th of February to 9th of March, with matches to be help in Dubai and Pakistan. 
The opening fixture of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand in the city of Karachi as both teams will be kicking off the tournament. A total of 15 games will be played over a span of 19 days, with the city's of Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi playing host to the games in Pakistan. UAE's Dubai will also host several encounters, including the all-important group-stage phase contests of the Indian Cricket Team and the first semi-final as well. 
The all-important Final is scheduled to be played on the 9th of March in the city of Lahore, unless Team India qualifies for the marquee match, in which case the summit clash will be shifted to Dubai. Both the semi-finals and the final will have reserve days if rain interrupts the proceedings of the contests.
The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match will be played on the 23rd of February in Dubai, which is also going to be a highlight of the competition. Other key matches include Australia vs England on the 22nd of February in the city of Lahore and South Africa vs Afghanistan in Karachi on 21st of February. 
Each of the three Pakistani venues will play host to three group-stage encounters, with Lahore also set to host the 2nd Semi-Final. The Dubai leg of the Champions Trophy kicks off on 20th February, with the Men in Blue squaring off versus Asian-rivals Bangladesh. 
The 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy will witness the top eight teams from the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup competing versus each other to get their hands on the prestigious Trophy. Fans are eagerly waiting for this exciting tournament, with hosts Pakistan aiming to defend their title.

Almost all of the participating teams have unveiled their respective squads for next month's Champions Trophy 2025 which is slated to be hosted by Pakistan and the UAE in hybrid-model system. The BCCI though have not announced Team India's squad for the mega event of this year yet. 
Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-president of thr BCCI has stated that a meeting to discuss the matters related to the team will be held on the 18th and 19th of January and it's anticipated that the squad of Team India will be announced post the conclusion of this meeting. 
However, before the official unveiling of the squad, many kinds of speculations have started to spread in the Cricket Community. Some Veterans and Cricket experts have even revealed their predicted squad of the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming ICC event. 
Amidst all of the speculations, a lot of focus is being implemented on the wicketkeeper position. Who will be the two wicket-Keepers that will be selected in the Men in Blue's squad ahead of the Champions Trophy? Many reports have already started to spread rumors about the WK spot and one name that's coming in everybody's mind is KL Rahul.
<h2>Sanju has the upper hand in One Day Internationals</h2>
One of Sanju Samson or Rishabh Pant is likely to get picked for the 2nd wicket-Keeper's spot in the squad. The ODI statistics of both the players are giving testimony as to who has the upper hand in terms of getting picked in the team. If we take a look at the current career statistics, Samson seems to have the upper hand in this regard. 
Rishabh Pant has participated in a total of 31 One-Day International contests so farfar, in which he has amassed a total of 871 runs at a decent average ofof 33.50?. He has also slammed one century and five fifties with a strike rate of 106.21. However, Sanju has better overall ODI Stats. 
The Rajasthan Royals skipper has taken part in 16 One-Day International contests, in which he has scored 510 runs at a good average of 56.66 with the help of one century and three half-centuries at a decent strike rate of 99.60.
<h2>Samson has performed in a better way in the last five ODI matches too.. </h2>
If we compare the last five One-Day International innings of both players, the 30-year-old has had the upper hand in this regard as well. He has managed to score 216 runs in his last five ODI innings which includes a fifty and a magnificent century. 
He played a remarkable knock of 108 runs in his previous 50-over inning and the thing which works in his favour is that all of his previous five ODI knocks have come on foreign soil. His scores have read 37, 9, 51, 12 and 108 runs in his last five One-Day International appearances.
Rishabh Pant on the other hand, hasn't really done much with the bat in ODI Cricket. In his last five appearances in the format, he has managed to score just 156 runs. He has played an unbeaten century knock in this processand his scores in his last five ODI innings are - 0, 125*, 15, 10 and 6 runs. 
Thus, keeping all of these statistics in mind, Sanju Samson seems to be the better overall pick for the 2nd wicket-Keeper's spot in Team India's squad for the forthcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

The Afghanistan National Cricket Team's sensational win over England by a margin of eight runs in the Group-A fixture of the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 has won the hearts of all Cricket lovers across the globe as this win helped them stay alive in the race of qualifying for the semi-finals. Not only this, the win also meant that Jos Butter-led England got knocked out of the tournament. 
In this sensational clash played at the Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore, the Afghan Atalans batted first and put up a strong score of 325 runs on the board. Young Ibrahim Zadran played a magnificent knock of 177 runs, which is also the highest score ever recorded by a batter in the history of the tournament and this amazing knock allowed his team to cross the 300 run mark after losing two wickets in the powerplay. 
The Three Lions, never looked comfortable and they eventually got bundled out for a score of 317 runs, and the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side won the encounter and changed the equation of the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy.

The Proteas and the Kangaroos are in the top two positions of Group-B of the eight-team tournament with three points each to their name. The Afghans play Australia next on Friday, 28th of February at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Their win over the Three Lions has left all three teams in Group-B in a tight spot as they are all set to play do-or-die matches in the upcoming fixtures. 
<h2>Afghanistan's semi-finals qualification scenario</h2>
Afghanistan will have to beat Australia to make it to the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the first time ever in their Cricketing history. On the other hand, Australia will also qualify directly with a win over Afghanistan and South Africa will also be guaranteed qualification in the knockout phase. 
However, if Australia lose their last game versus the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side, then they will have to depend on the result of South Africa's last match against England on March 1. On the other hand, if South Africa also loses against England, they will have to ensure that they have a better net run rate than the 2023 ODI World Cup winners to advance to the semi-finals. South Africa's net run rate is currently +2.140, while the net run rate of the Steven Smith-led team is +0.475.

Teams of India and New Zealand are in the top half of the table of Group-A of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Afghanistan's eight-run victory over England in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has kept them in the competition and put them in the running to reach the semifinals. They can make it to the event's final four in this way.

Afghanistan survived another day in the Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating England and knocking them out. They face Australia in their next fixture and they will have to win that match at all costs if they want to secure the semi finals berth.

The New Zealand National Cricket Team, under the captaincy of Michael Bracewell, secured a comprehensive victory by a margin of 73 runs versus Mohammad Rizwan's Pakistan in the first One Day International of the three-match series at the Mclean Park in Napier on Saturday, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. 
Chasing a big total of 345 runs, the Shaheens started off the chase on a confident note as the opening duo of Abdullah Shafique and debutant Usman Khan got involved in a opening stand of 83 runs. Both batsmen batted in an aggressive manner, laying a strong foundation for the chase for the visitors. 
However, the partnership came to an end as seamer Nathan Smith dismissed Khan for 39 runs. Captain Bracewell then sent the other opener Shafique back to the dugout for 36 runs in the 16th over, leaving the Green Shirts at 88-2.
The experienced duo of skipper Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam then stabilized the inning for the visitors with a partnership of 76 runs for the third wicket and kept the chase alive. However, the former perished off the bowling of Muhammad Abbas, the debutant of the home side for 30 runs in the 29th over, reducing the Green Shirts to 164-3.
Azam, determined to anchor the innings for his team, then combined with Agha Salman for another important partnership of 89 runs for the fourth wicket. The former captain of Pakistan played a good inning of 78 runs, slamming his 36th One Day International half-century before perishing off the bowling of pacer Will O'Rourke in the 39th over of the chase, shifting the momentum back to the Kiwis. 
Following the dismissal of Babar, the visitors struggled to regain the momentum and they suffered a collapse as they kept losing wickets on a back-to-back basis. The golden duck of Irfan Khan Niazi and the run out of Tayyab Tahir in the 40th over left the tourists struggling at a score of 253-6.
Kisi pacer Nathan Smith continued his impact with the ball, getting the wickets of both Haris Rauf &amp; Naseem Shah in the 43rd over, while Duffy got Agha Salman dismissed for 58 runs. Tailender Akif Javed was the final player to get dismissed as the Shaheens got all-out for 271 runs in 44.1 overs. 
Nathan Smith starred with the ball for the Blackcaps, ending the match with figures of 4-60 in eight overs, while Jacob Duffy also grabbed two scalps to his name. The duo of Will O'Rourke &amp; debutant Muhammad Abbas also chipped in with a wicket each, helping their side secure a dominating victory. 
Earlier in the match, after being asked to bat first by Mohammad Rizwan, the Kiwis faced early setbacks as Akif Javed caused a lot of trouble for the hosts, dismissing opener Will Young for one run in the third over. He then dismissed sent Henry Nicholls (11 runs) and Nick Kelly (15 runs) back to the dugout, leaving the home side struggling at 50-3 in 12.4 overs.
However, the Black Caps started a fight back as the duo of Daryl Mitchell and Mark Chapman stitched a key partnership of 100 runs for the fourth wicket. The Southpaw showcased an aggressive brand of Cricket and his stroke play saw him bring up his third One Day International hundred in the 38th over of the New Zealand inning, with the help of four big sixes and 11 fours. 
Daryl Mitchell, Chapman's partner at the other end, played second fiddle and played the role of the anchor, scoring a good 76 runs before perishing off the bowling of Irfan Khan Niazi. The record-breaking 199-run stand of Chapman &amp; Mitchell helped their team reach a strong position. 
The Southpaw eventually got dismissed after playing a career-best knock of 132 runs, while the Pakistani duo of Irfan Niazi &amp; Haris Rauf struck late in the match with the ball to cause issues for the home side. However, the blistering inning of 50 runs in 24 deliveries by debutant Muhammad Abbas helped his team cross the 300 run Mark. 
Talking about the bowling performance of the Green Shirts, Irfan Khan Niazi was the best bowler of the match, dismissing three New Zealand batters by giving away 51 runs and he was followed by the duo of Akif Javed &amp; Haris Rauf who picked up two wickets a piece. Mohammad Ali &amp; Naseem Shah also grabbed one scalp each. 
The next match between the two teams will be played on the 2nd of April at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. The match will commence from 3:30 AM IST onwards.

Despite a good start, Pakistan's batting collapsed, with Nathan Smith taking key wickets. New Zealand now leads the series 1-0. The second ODI is scheduled for April 2nd.

Gary Stead, the head coach of the Kiwis said the injury is unfortunate for Chapman and the team. "It is certainly disappointing news for Mark after playing a very special innings in the first ODI in Napier. However, his hamstring injury is minor, so we hope Mark will complete his rehab and be available for selection in the last match of the series against Pakistan', he said.

Taking full advantage of the cloudy conditions, New Zealand's bowlers were on fire from the first delivery, giving Pakistan no chance in this chase.  With an early breakthrough, Will O'Rourke set the tone. He and Jacob Duffy bowled together, the latter taking two wickets, including the valuable one of Babar.
The pair was simply unplayable; they kept things tight and unsettled the hitters with some furious short balls, even though they didn't take any more wickets.  Nathan Smith added one and Ben Sears took advantage of the pressure by hitting twice in his opening over. Even though Duffy added another wicket to his total, Sears was the star of the show, finishing with an incredible five-wicket haul.

Asked to bat first by Pakistani skipper Mohammad Rizwan, the brand new opening pair of the Kiwis, Nick Kelly &amp; Rhys Mariu got off to a solid start, putting a 50-run stand for the opening wicket. However, their partnership got broken in the 6th over when the former was dismissed by seamer Haris Rauf after playing a good hand of 31 runs in 23 balls, leaving the hosts at 54-1.
In the 10th over, the Michael Bracewell-led side lost their second opening batter, Mariu, for 18 runs, as fast-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Wasim jr, dealt a blow to the hosts, leaving them under pressure at the score of 71-2.Daryl Mitchell, who walked out to bat at number four, played a run a ball knock of 18 runs in 18 deliveries before perishing to Sufiyan Muqeem, leaving New Zealand at 100-3.
The Blackcaps kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and in the very next over of the innings, Henry Nicholls (22 runs) got out after being caught plumb in front of the stumps and his dismissal left his team at a struggling score of 102-4 in 16.5 overs.
The duo of Muhammad Abbas and Captain Michael Bracewell then got involved in a partnership of 30 runs for the fifth wicket as they tried to steady the innings. However, Wasim Jr struck once again, removing the latter for 17 runs, further reducing the home side to 132-5 in 26.3 overs.
Following the dismissla of the New Zealand captain, wicketkeeper batter Mitchell Hay arrived at the crease and he alongside Abbas (41 runs) got involved in an important partnership of 77 runs for the sixth wicket and this relieved some pressure and helped their team reach a more combative position. However, Chinaman spinner Muqeem had some other plans as he ended the partnership of the two batter by getting rid of Abbas, which further reduced the hosts to 209-6 in 40 overs.
Despite the constant fall of wickets, Mitch Hay carried playing with composure, bringing up his maiden fifty in the format in 51 balls. However, Hay started to run out of partners at the other end as Faheen Ashraf dealt the Kiwis their seventh blow, getting the wicket of Nathan Smith (8 runs). This dismissal left the Black Caps at 236-7 in 45.1 overs.
New Zealand stood at 270-8 in 49 overs when Pakistan's captain, Muhammad Rizwan, ran out Ben Sears for a duck, costing the Blackcaps their eighth wicket.To help his team reach 292, Hay charged at Wasim Jr. in the final over and hit two fours and two sixes, attempting to set up a defendable total and win the series.
