<a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/category/t20/indian-premier-league/ipl-2023/" rel="nofollow">IPL 2023</a>: MS Dhoni got the silver bat as an award from BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow during an IPL match between Lucknow and Chennai on May 3rd.



For the first time, Indian cricket team captain and legendary player Dhoni played a cricket match at <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/?s=ekana+cricket+stadium" rel="nofollow">Ekana Cricket Stadium</a>, Lucknow. On this occasion, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla awarded the silver bat to Dhoni for his valuable contribution to Indian cricket.

Dhoni already announced that IPL 2023 is his last IPL, and he has already taken retirement from International cricket. Under the Leadership of Dhoni, India won the ICC T20I World Cup 2007, ICC World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Dhoni is considered as the most successful cricketer in the history of Indian cricket. MS Dhoni won four IPL trophies as a captain of Chennai Super Kings in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.



The BCCI honored him with a silver bat for his wonderful cricketing career. MS Dhoni came to Lucknow to play the IPL match of LSG vs CSK. At this beautiful moment, the BCCI decided to give the award to Captain Cool. MS Dhoni Captained team India for more than 10 years.



Ekana was chosen as the home ground of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023; it was a great moment for Lucknow to host IPL matches. Ekana hosted Chennai Super Kings for the first time in the IPL. World Cup 2023 Schedule: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was caught off-guard after the ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule &amp; Venues were announced by the ICC on 27th June. The cricket board attracted heavy backlash and criticism from traditional cricket associations which were denied World Cup 2023 matches.



As per the announced schedule, the BCCI shortlisted 12 venues across India to host the World Cup 2023 games. The list included - Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Guwahati, Dharmshala, Trivandrum and Lucknow.



However, the notable absentees from the list were Mohali, Indore, Rajkot, Ranchi, Jaipur and Nagpur. Despite having a decent infrastructure and rich history of hosting marquee tournament matches, these aforementioned venues were left out by the BCCI.



Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has directed strong criticism at the BCCI after Mohali's IS Bindra Stadium was denied to host the World Cup 2023 game. He said the move to exclude Mohali seems to be highly politically motivated. 



"The exclusion of Punjab's Mohali from the list of host cities for the tournament was due to political interference. Punjab government will raise this issue with BCCI," Hayer had said.



A source in the PCA revealed that they pushed hard to get World Cup 2023 matches but all the efforts went in vain.



?It seems only metros and cities where the office bearers are from have got games. We pushed for it really hard but could not get a game. Disappointing not to get even a practice game,? said a source in the Punjab Cricket Association which has been hosting World Cup games since 1996.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mohali didn't meet ICC standards for World Cup 2023: Shukla</h2>

However, responding to the criticism BCCI is receiving for excluding certain venues, Rajiv Shukla, the BCCI vice-president, said Mohali didn't meet ICC standards to host the World Cup 2023 matches.



"The current stadium in Mohali did not meet the standards of ICC and hence was denied matches," said Rajiv Shukla. "Virat Kohli's 100th Test last year was given to Mohali. Mullanpur Stadium is getting ready in Mohali. Had it been ready, they would have got a World Cup match."



He, however, assured that Mohali will be awarded bilateral matches in upcoming India home fixtures. It's purely on the rotational basis of the venues. 



"But that does not mean matches would not be given to them. Bilateral series matches will be given to them, it is based on a rotational system," he said.



To further clarify the exclusion of certain venues, Shukla mentioned that ICC's consent is required to lock a venue for World Cup and it requires certain checks to verify stadium standards.



"No 'pick and choose' has been done. ICC's consent is important in finalising the venues. In Trivandrum, warm-up matches have been given, for the first time. It is not that any centre/zone has been ignored. Stadiums have been chosen after a lot of consideration, even in North East Zone, Guwahati got the matches. A lot of accommodation has been done in the schedule."



Trivandram's Greenfield International Stadium and Guwahati's Assam Cricket Association Stadium along with Hyderabad have been picked to host the warm-up matches of the World Cup 2023.



"For the first time, 12 venues have been chosen for World Cup. Earlier, these many venues were not chosen in previous World Cups. Out of these 12 venues, warm-up matches will be held in Trivandrum and Guwahati, remaining venues will have league matches. More centres have been accommodated. From South Zone Four venues, from central zone one venues, West Zone Two, and North Zone two venues. Delhi and Dharamshala will host the matches (In North Zone)," he added.

Champions Trophy 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice-President Rajiv Shukla, in his recent interview, clarified that Team India won't participate in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan unless the Government of India allows them. The next edition of the Champions Trophy is set to be held in Pakistan in 2025.



This comes as a massive statement from the BCCI vice-president, as Pakistan seeks BCCI's position on travelling to Pakistan for the event. 



Speaking to ANI, Rajiv Shukla, BCCI vice-president, said, "In the case of the Champion Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission. So we will go according to the decision of the Indian government."



Team India's participation chances appear to be meek in the Champions Trophy 2025, given the Indian government's unwavering stance on the issue. Often the BCCI has iterated that the team won't travel to Pakistan, who continue to enjoy cross-border terrorism.



Team India has already pushed for a neutral venue for the Champions Trophy for its matches, while the rest can be scheduled in Pakistan. However, the PCB has outrightly rejected the idea, unlike it did during the Asia Cup 2023, which was held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan following India's protest.



Notably, the Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be held in the month of February-March in Pakistan. The PCB has already sent the initial blueprint of the fixtures to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

It was reported that the PCB has earmarked Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi as the three venues for the 50-over tournament. Lahore has, reportedly, been chosen to host all the fixtures relating to Team India, including the most anticipated India vs Pakistan.



Lahore, being the close to the border will felicitate smooth travel of the Indian visitors, if they wish to attend the fixtures. Moreover, there won't be any big logistical issue for the team.



The venues in Pakistan are also getting their makeovers done before the Champions Trophy 2025 to host the multi-nation event, which is slated to run from mid-February to early March. 



PCB chief Moshin Naqvi recently announced that the cricket board has submitted the preliminary schedule to the ICC. The complete schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025 will be revealed in the due time, after getting confirmation from the <a href="https://www.icc-cricket.com/">ICC</a>.

The morning of 12th February started off on the worst possible note for Indian fans as they were shocked after hearing the news of Team India's elite seamer Jasprit Bumrah being ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025. A lot of fans were really sad and unhappy but something else happened which triggered them even more. 
The National Cricket Academy (NCA) revealed the medical report of the pacer and as soon as the report came out, a stir was created on social media. It's reported that Bumrah is completely fit and despite this, he has been excluded from Team India's squad for the marquee ICC event of this year. Let's take a look at who is the person responsible behind taking such a huge call. 
<h2>Bumrah is completely fit</h2>
The NCA is the place where injured Indian players go to complete their rehabilitation under the supervision of a highly skilled medical team and Bumrah was present at the NCA too. According to a news report of the PTI, the NCA had declared the 31-year-old completely fit, however, match fitness of the pacer was a completely different benchmark of concern. 
According to the report, Bumrah has not yet bowled with full intensity in a competitive environment, due to which fielding him in the tournament was a huge risk &amp; gamble. 
<h2>Who took the decision of leaving out Bumrah? </h2>
A top official of the BCCI told PTI, " His (Bumrah) medical scan report was clear and he had completed his rehabilitation process as per schedule. However, the NCA let the selectors make the final decision on the inclusion of Bumrah in the team as he had not taken part in any sort of match-condition". 
In accordance to this statement, we get to know that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is the one who decided to leave out Bumrah from the Champions Trophy squad as they didn't want to take a risk with him and feared he might pick up a bigger injury. 
<h2>Who has replaced Jasprit in India's Champions Trophy squad? </h2>
On the night of February 11, the BCCI gave an update on the changes in the Champions Trophy. Declaring Jasprit Bumrah injured, the BCCI has included Harshit Rana in the squad in his place. Apart from this, young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was also dropped from the squad, but Varun Chakraborty got a chance in his place. Shivam Dube is also not a part of the team.
