Umran Malik roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as Natarajan?s replacement.

Vivo IPL 2021: The Sun group owned Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has roped in Umran Malik as a replacement for pacer T Natarajan. The franchise on Friday announced the development and Malik will remain with the team as a short term replacement of the pacer.?

SRH speedster T Natarajan was, earlier, tested covid positive before its opening match against Delhi Capitals (DC).

?Sunrisers Hyderabad have brought in medium-pacer Umran Malik as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for T Natarajan for their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign," an IPL release stated.

Malik, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, has featured in one T20 and a List A match and has scalped four wickets. The pacer is already in SRH set up as a net bowler.

"Under the Regulation 6.1 (c), franchises are allowed to sign short-term replacement players during the absence of a regular squad member, so Malik will "only be a part of the Sunrisers side until Natarajan recovers and is allowed to join the team", an IPL statement confirmed.

Natarajan played a crucial role in the little success SRH got last year in the UAE. The pacer was brilliant with his execution of the slower bowls along with the stock deliveries. The franchise finished third in the points table last year.

The franchise is having a hard time this year where they found it hard to cross the winning line. SRH is ranked last in the team rankings of IPL 2021 with just a solitary win and seven losses from eight matches.

SRH will lock horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in its next match which is scheduled to be played out on 25th September.
