Virender Sehwag says MI should retain Rohit, Ishan and Jasprit Bumrah.
IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag reckons that the five times IPL winners should invest in Rohit Sharma, young Ishan Kishan and pacer Jasprit Bumrah as their three retentions before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already confirmed the expansion of the IPL as the Indian cricket board plans to make the cash-rich event a ten teams affair from the existing pool of eight. As of now, the BCCI hasn?t rolled out the exact rules for the IPL 2022 retentions, however, the teams are anticipating at least three player retentions and two Right to Match (RTM) cards.
Sehwag feels that Mumbai will exclude all-rounder Hardik Pandya from the retention list and will only retain their skipper Rohit Sharma, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan.
"I think I would retain Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Ishan seems to be in it for the long haul, age is on his side so he can serve you better,? said Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag feels that Ishan?s performance in the last match will work in his favour. The young wicketkeeper-batsman scored blistering 84 from 32 deliveries against SRH to end his IPL 2021 campaign.

?The kind of performance Ishan Kishan has dished out today, expect many more from him in time to come because is a top-order batsman.?
The former cricketer further said that Hardik may not fetch a whopping sum if he doesn?t start bowling. Hardik Pandya?s persisting injury concerns have pulled his game down. The all-rounder wasn?t able to perform well in the ongoing season of the Vivo IPL 2021.
?If Hardik Pandya doesn't bowl, I don't think he would be able to fetch big money at the auction because due to his injury concerns, everyone would think twice,? he added.
"Will he bowl or not? If he can declare himself fit and start bowling then teams can buy him at the auction," Sehwag added.
Hardik Pandya was considered fit to bowl during his selection for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, however, the all-rounder didn't even bowl a single delivery in the entire Vivo IPL 2021. Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper, has informed that the all-rounder will begin bowling from next week.
