Vivo IPL 2021 Phase 2 tentative dates, Schedule, Venues all you need to know.
Vivo IPL 2021: Phase-2 of the Vivo IPL 2021- which consists of the remaining 31 games- is expected to begin in the window of late September. Earlier, a report of Times of India suggested that the BCCI is planning to complete the midway halted IPL in UAE.
A close BCCI source said that Phase-2 of the IPL might resume on 18th or 19th September in UAE. A three-week window has been considered for the completion which will consist of 10 double-headers. The final of the same can be scheduled on October 9th or 10th.
?The BCCI has spoken to all the stakeholders and the likely start could be between September 18th to 20th. Since September 18 is a Saturday and 19 a Sunday, it is more likely that you would want to restart it on a weekend date,? the official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
?Similarly, October 9th or 10th will be the final as it?s a weekend. We are finalising the itinerary and there will be 10 double headers and seven evening matches along with four main games (two qualifiers, one eliminator and the final), which completes the list of 31 matches,? the official added.
The Vivo IPL season 14 was suspended on May 4 by the BCCI after multiple covid cases emerged in the secure bio environment.
India?s England tour will begin on 18th June while the final test day will be on 14th September. As per the details available, all the Indian players will arrive in UAE via a chartered flight making a bubble-to-bubble transfer on 15th September.?
At the same time, Caribbean Premier League will also be completed and the players from West Indies will also take a chartered flight and make their bubble-to-bubble transfer.
The source further added that a three days quarantine will be followed upon arriving in Dubai by the players.
In the process of scheduling the remaining 31 games of the IPL 2021, India?s T20I series against South Africa has been cancelled by the BCCI, as reported by Insidesports.
The BCCI believes that IPL will serve as the preparations for the subsequent ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which is scheduled in India later this year.
