Washington Sundar once again injured, coach Tom Moody provides updates: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have endured a fresh blow during the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), last night, which was won by the CSK by 13 runs. Premier all-rounder Washington Sundar sustained a blow in his already injured bowling hand and was then subsequently ruled out of bowling during the match.

Notably, Sundar earlier injured himself with a split webbing in his bowling hand due to which he had to miss three crucial matches for his franchise.

Head coach Tom Moody gave an update on Sundar’s injury post the match against CSK. Moody, though, confirmed that Sundar had recovered from his previous injury.

“It’s very unfortunate that he had a knock on the same hand were he split his webbing. It had healed completely but he re-injured that area, it’s not injured to the point that he needs it re-stitched,” Moody said at the post-match presentation.

“But unfortunately, it wasn’t in a state were he could bowl. It really did have an impact on for us in that early phase of bowling, given he has such a critical bowler for us,” he added.

The incident took place after Washington Sundar dived to save a boundary at the deep square leg in the fourth over bowled by Marco Jansen. He was in pain and was taken off the field for medical assistance.

Following the blow, Sundar didn’t bowl in the entire game making it tough for the Kane Williamson-led SRH to restrict run flow against Chennai Super Kings.

Though Sundar came to bat, his short stay lasted only two deliveries. He was bowled by CSK pacer Mukesh Chaudhary.

If the reports are to be believed, Sundar might have to sit out during SRH’s next match against Delhi Capitals on 5th May due to the injury.

SRH kicked off their Tata IPL 2022 campaign with two consecutive losses, however, the orange army made a turnaround with five successive victories. Their winning run in the IPL 2022 began after hammering Gujarat Titans, however, it only lasted until Gujarat came back and took perfect revenge for their loss in the second meet.

As of now, SRH is currently placed fourth in the points table with five wins and four losses in nine outings. The franchise needs a couple of more wins to seal their sureshot place in the playoffs.
