WI vs ENG, 5th T20I: After the disappointing performance in the World Cup 2023, Jos Buttler and company have gone on a West Indies tour. An ODI series was played between both teams in the West Indies, and the Caribbean team won the series 2-1. After the ODI series, the five-match T20 series between both teams is currently tied at 2-2. The fifth and final T20 match will be played on Friday, December 22, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.
Jos Buttler and company were trailing in the T20I series after losing the first two matches, but then England performed strongly and won the next two matches. In the fourth match, thanks to the brilliant batsmanship of opener batsman Philip Salt, England managed to score a huge score against the West Indies.
The fourth T20 match of the series was played at Brian Lara Stadium, where West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and invited the Men in Red to bat first. Batting first, England scored 267 runs at the loss of only three wickets in 20 overs. This was the highest total by England in international cricket. Wicketkeeper batsman Philip Salt scored 119 runs in this match with the help of seven fours and ten sixes in just 57 balls. This was his second consecutive century in this series. In the third match, Salt also scored 109 runs on just 56 balls with the help of four fours and nine sixes.
Apart from Philip Salt, captain Jos Buttler also scored 55 runs on 29 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. Nicholas Pooran, returning to the team, scored 39 runs in 15 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes, while Andre Russell also scored 51 runs in just 25 balls with the help of three fours and five sixes but was unable to lead the team to victory.
