IND vs WI: After a long delay, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, 5th July announced India's T20I Squad for the upcoming West Indies series. The squad has a number of surprise inclusions and some bold exclusions as well. This article will talk more about IND vs WI: India's Strongest T20I Playing11 against West Indies.
The All India Senior Selection Committee led by Ajit Agarkar, who assumed the role of chief selector a day ago, picked a fresh squad for the five-match T20I Series against West Indies.
Young Tilak Varma, Mukesh Kumar and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been awarded maiden T20I callups. Notably, Mukesh Kumar and Yashasvi Jaiswal will also feature in the Test Squads of the Indian team.
However, in a surprise exclusion, Rinku Singh, who was widely touted to get his India call soon following exceptional performances in the Tata IPL 2023, has been overlooked by the selectors. The Aligarh-based cricketer is also not picked for the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Team India's 15-member T20I Squad will be led by all-rounder Hardik Pandya with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. The BCCI continues to sideline senior players from the shortest format of the sport, which is a clear indication that the likes of them getting phased out.
Wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson has been called back to assume the wicketkeeping duties. Opening batter Ishan Kishan is another designated wicketkeeper in India's T20I Squad.
The BCCI have picked up as many as four spinners and as many pacers in the squad. The spin department will be led by seasoned Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav with Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel in the ranks too. Meanwhile, the pace bowling unit will be spearheaded by Hardik Pandya himself, who will have the support of Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik and Mukesh Kumar.
