T20 World Cup 2024: The 46th match of T20 World Cup 2024 was played between Super 8 Group-2 teams United States and West Indies at Kensington Oval in Barbados. In this one-sided match, co-host West Indies defeated host USA by nine wickets and earned two important points in the points table.
West Indies Won by 9 Wickets
Caribbean captain Rovman Powell won the toss and invited the USA to bat first. While batting, Aaron Jones and company were all out for 128 runs in 19.5 overs. This was the USA's second-lowest score in the tournament. Before this, the team had scored 118 runs in 20 overs against India.
From the United States side, wicketkeeper batsman Andries Gous scored the most runs for his team, he played a brilliant innings of 29 runs in just 16 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Apart from him, Nitish Kumar scored 20, captain Aaron Jones scored 11, Milind Kumar scored 19 and Ali Khan scored 14 runs in six balls with the help of one four and a six.
The West Indies batsmen chased the target of 129 runs in 10.5 overs with the loss of only three wickets. Opener Shai Hope played a brilliant innings of 82 runs with the help of four fours and eight sixes in just 39 balls. Wicketkeeper batsman Nicholas Pooran also led the team to victory by scoring 27 runs in just 12 balls with a strike rate of 225.
With this big margin of victory, West Indies' chances of Super-4 qualification have increased, as West Indies has the best run rate among the four teams in the entire group. West Indies' next match is against South Africa on which WI's qualification will depend. Africa has not lost a single match in the tournament so far.

Super 8 Team Position
After West Indies' big win against United States, the Group-2 points table has become complicated. South Africa is at the top after winning two out of two matches in Super-8. Africa's qualification is almost certain. At the same time, either West Indies or England, who are in second position, will qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
In Group A, all the teams have played one match each, in which India and Australia have got one point each.
